About CDCEC
Canada Diversity and Cultural Exchange Center (CDCEC) promotes increased cultural and educational exchange between various indigenous communities of Canada and the immigrant as well as student communities, enabling enhanced awareness, collaboration and integration between these communities.

Why CDCEC ?
Born and brought up in Canada, I was fortunate to be part of diverse and vibrant communities of India, including the one linked to the origins of my parents, Kannada Sangha of Ottawa. As a Child and teenager, I would always look forward to the festivals, picnics and other events organized by the community for an opportunity to dress up, meet the friends, play, sing and dance with peers and other community folks. I carry vivid memories of these days even when I am enrolled in the university. These events are usually limited to the community folks and inter community mixing was very rare.

However, growing as a up Gen Z, there was limited opportunities to expand my horizons and interactions with the indigenous communities. I always thought these community events are a great opportunity to invite some artists from the indigenous communities and see their culture and performances in our community forum. Similarly, I would have loved to see occasionally performing in our community events by other community artists such as from Italian, Spanish, Chinese, Middle eastern or other origins. Reciprocally, I would have loved to see my community artists performing in their forums. This would act as a great catalyst for smooth and rapid integration of diverse cultures that have origins in different parts of the globe but rooting in Canada, leading to appreciation and enhanced collaboration among the diverse groups. Performing and interacting in the events of other communities also provides an opportunity to understand and appreciate their language as well as their dress and culinary habits. Also, involving student artists in these events gives them a great opportunity for early assimilation into the diverse cultural landscape of Canada as well as ease into its social fabrics.
The result of the above first hand observations as well as intense churning of these issues with our friends and community members over the last few years is the birth of the “Canada Diversity and Cultural Exchange Center for Indigenous, Immigrant and Student Communities (CDCEC).”. I welcome you to join us in the CDCEC mission to make diverse global cultures to seed, root, adapt, integrate and flourish in Canadian fabrics, seamlessly.
